Be animated at AnimfxNZ

Be animated at AnimfxNZ.

Used to be that an impressive animation was a strolling stickman drawn in the flicking page corners of your maths exercise book. These days, computer animations are so seamless we may not even notice when they are integrally part of the feature films we enjoy.

The sixth annual AnimfxNZ conference focuses on animation, gaming and visual effects, bringing together the very latest and greatest of the digital media industry.

There’s a mix of international speakers, including animation feature directors, VFX supervisors, digital artists and game developers. Keynote Lance Priebe will be talking about the future of online gaming and how he created the most popular website in the world, Club Penguin with its 150 million users. (You haven’t heard of Club Penguin? You need to spend more time with web-savvy pipsqueaks!)

Held at Te Papa’s Sounding Theatre from 15th to 17th November, the AnimfxNZ programme is packed with speakers who will be presenting on their passion and interacting with attendees from around New Zealand and the world. There’s even a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Tin Tin, as part of a special day at Peter Jackson’s world class Park Road Post facility, thanks to Weta Digital.

The conference includes a kids-only workshop which is selling fast and has been a smash hit in previous years. For 2011, the guest speaker is Pixar story artist Enrico Casarosa who will be premiering his Pixar short La Luna and talking about his upcoming directorial feature debut.

AnimfxNZ is the event to attend if you are in the digital media industry and wanting to keep in touch with trends and technologies. Register now!
