Foxy at the Roxy

Foxy at the Roxy.

The Roxy is a stylish new addition to Wellington and now the cinema will be playing host to a night of fashion.

Foxy at The Roxy is on Thursday 11 August from 6.30pm. Not just a fundraiser for the Mary Potter Hospice, it will be showcasing vintage and pre-loved clothing from the Mary Potter Hospice Shops. These outfits will be trotting down the runway alongside the latest from Wellington designers Ashley Fogel, Mandatory and Starfish.

Wellingtonian women have a knack for mixing designer fashion with op-shop scores so this event sounds like the perfect combination.

More than once I’ve stood in a secondhand store, pondering an oversize cardigan or patterned frock, wondering if it could be made more wearable by a dye job or cinching the waist. And there’s nothing satisfying than getting a compliment on your outfit and knowing that it’s one of a kind.

And if you like what you see at Foxy at The Roxy, then you’re in luck. The featured clothing from the Mary Potter Hospice Shops will be auctioned off on the night! These pieces have been hand picked from the five stores in the Wellington region by celebrity stylist Sally-Ann Moffat. She’ll be there, presenting fashion tips and tricks with the scoop on season trends.

Catering is being provided by Coco at The Roxy (mmm!) and MC for the evening is Dominion Post Fashion Editor, Carolyn Enting. Other locals giving their time and talent include models from Kirsty Bunny Management, Haight Ashbury creating beautiful hair and footwear donated by Ultra.

Tickets are $70 – which includes a goodie bag, of course – and all proceeds go to the Hospice. Grab one now from Dash Tickets. Or email Helen Ward at the Hospice or phone (04) 389-5018, x831. For other upcoming events from Mary Potter Hospice, take a look at their website.
