Under the night sky

Under the night sky.

With the extraordinary run of weather we’ve been having, it would be a shame if you spent every evening on the couch, eyes glued to a screen. Especially when you could be outside, in a park… eyes glued to a screen.

Films by Starlight makes a welcome return for 2013 with a bigger lineup (and more locations) than ever before. You might have already missed the first installment (Best in Show, on 30 January) but there are seven more films to come – including Raiders of the Lost Ark, which is probably the best film that has ever been made or ever will be made and if you think otherwise then you’re definitely wrong.

Venues include Waitangi Park, Naenae Park, Queen St Reserve in Wainuiomata, Williams Park in Days Bay, and Fraser Park in Taita – and because the best accompaniment to a great film is an equally great assortment of snacks, there’ll be food markets on site each night as well, with films kicking off at 8.30pm.

If the first screening at Waitangi Park was any indication, these events are going to be pretty popular, so best to get there early to stake out your spot.

The remaining schedule includes:

Saturday 2 February, Naenae Park:
The Incredibles

Wednesday 6 February, Waitangi Park:
Boy

Saturday 9 February, Queen St Reserve:
The Blues Brothers

Wednesday 13 February, Waitangi Park:
Dirty Dancing

Saturday 16 February, Williams Park:
Raiders of the Lost Ark

Wednesday 20 February, Waitangi Park:
Searching for Sugar Man

Saturday 23 February, Fraser Park:
Sione’s Wedding

Jarrod.
